ABSTRACT
This study was carried out on entrepreneurship education and its influence on the development of Nigeria using students of entrepreneurship department Lagos State University as a case study. Specifically, the study find out if students who received entrepreneurship education will be more driven towards starting their own ventures. The study also investigate if entrepreneurial education will increase students knowledge of business at early stage. The study further evaluate the relationship between entrepreneurship education through successful entrepreneurial models and Entrepreneurial Intention among students. Lastly, the study examine if entrepreneurship education contributes to the development of Nigeria. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 160 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that students who received entrepreneurship education be more driven towards starting their own ventures. Also, entrepreneurial education increase students knowledge of business at early stage. Furthermore, there is a relationship between entrepreneurship education through successful entrepreneurial models and Entrepreneurial Intention among students. Lastly, entrepreneurship education contributes to the development of Nigeria . The study thereby recommend that the implementation of entrepreneurship education course has to be delivered interactively accommodating students involvement in entire learning process. Also, Self-employment and firms’ creation propensity can be leveraged through the education system. Lastly, ministry of higher education, should focus on entrepreneurial education by diversifying programs and courses supporting entrepreneurship.
